The inventive device for evacuating people comprises a platform (1), the one side of which is attached by means of hinges (15) to the outer wall (2) of a building under a window aperture (3) and is suspended on the opposite side by means of two wire rods (14) which pass via pulleys (17) through openings in the outer wall (2) and are reeved to the drums of self-braking winches (18) which are located above the window aperture (3) on the side of a room. A light area (7) provided with rolling doors (8) is made in the middle of the platform (1) floor. Chain bearing elements (21) attached to the outer wall (2) with the aid of anchors (16) are mounted on the lateral sides of the platform (1). In the absence of emergency situation, the platform (1) with the opened doors (8) is vertically positioned and attracted by the wire rods (14) to the outer wall (2) in such a way that the outline of the light area (7) coincides with the outline of the window aperture (3). In the case of emergency situation, the platform (1) with the closed doors (8) is lowered and fixed in a horizontal position by the wire rods (14) and the chain bearing elements (21).
