PURPOSE: An oil return algorithm for a capacity regulation compressor is provided to predict moving of oil from a compressor while a system is operated with low capacity. CONSTITUTION: A capacity regulation compressor comprises a pump unit(24), a motor(37), and a controller(36). The pump unit and the motor of the compressor are accepted in a shell(23). The shell has a sump(22) to maintain a certain lubricant. The controller is programmed to be operated with more than one high capacity and more than one low capacity. When the compressor is operated with more than one low capacity, the controller predicts the amount of oil moved from the shell. If the predicted amount of oil is more than a designated limit, the controller moves the motor from the low capacity to the high capacity. |
