PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an echo canceller, or the like, that cancels an echo signal from a collected-sound signal collected in a sampling period not necessarily agree with the sampling period of a reception signal. Ž

SOLUTION: The echo canceler estimates a reception signal for evaluation from a reception signal and m pieces of expansion/contraction coefficient for evaluation so as to output it. A pseudo-echo signal for evaluation is calculated from a reception signal for evaluation and an error signal of an echo simulation part for evaluation. An error signal which is the difference between both the values of a collected-sound signal and the pseudo-echo signal for evaluation is calculated from the collected-sound signal and the pseudo-echo signal for evaluation. The value i0of the smallest error i is outputted from the error signal and is used to determine the expansion/contraction coefficient for transmission. The expansion/contraction coefficient for transmission is used to calculate a new expansion/contraction coefficient for evaluation. A reception signal for transmission is inferred from the reception signal and the expansion/contraction coefficient for transmission so as to output it. A pseudo-echo signal for transmission is calculated from the reception signal for transmission and a transmission signal. The collected-sound signal and the pseudo-echo signal for transmission are used to calculate a transmission signal which is the difference between both values of the collected-sound signal and the pseudo-echo signal for transmission.
