摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving image decoding apparatus capable of reducing the quantity of side information such as motion vectors. <P>SOLUTION: A moving image decoding apparatus comprises: prediction sections 1-n (36a-36n) for generating a predictive image using respectively different motion compensation inter-frame prediction systems from a motion vector input from a side information decoding section 35 and a reference image frame input from a frame memory section 24; and a region prediction selection section 37, to which predictive images 1-n (one or more processing small regions) generated by the prediction sections 1-n (36a-36n) are input, for generating a predictive image frame by selecting predictive images 1-n in accordance with region information and prediction mode information from the side information decoding section 35. Even when the quantity of side information required for motion vectors in a decoding target region is reduced by a moving image encoding apparatus, on the basis of the prediction mode information included in the reduced side information, an image can be restored. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p>
