PURPOSE: A defect image classification method of articles continuously produced to a roll type or a sheet type through image processing is provided to accurately classify defects detected from the surface of articles. CONSTITUTION: A defect image classification method of articles continuously produced to a roll type or a sheet type through image processing is as follows. The surfaces of articles continuously produced to a roll type or a sheet type are photographed. And the images of the surfaces, which have defects, are classified into kinds of the defects. Feature tables, composed of feature vectors, are formed by image-processing the classified images(S10). The photographed image data are input(S20). The feature vectors are extracted by image-processing the images data(S30). The feature vectors of each defect, which are approximate to the feature vectors of the feature tables, are searched(S40). The articles are classified based on the searched feature vectors(S50).
