<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter for a display, in which a functional surface layer including a light absorbing function is directly layered on a conductive layer, so that reflection and scattering of external light due to the meshed conductive layer, which are problems peculiar to a technique for coating one base material, are suppressed, and degradation in contrast is suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: The filter for the display has the meshed conductive layer on a transparent base material and the functional surface layer arranged directly on the meshed conductive layer.
