<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display with improved visual field angle characteristics from an oblique direction and to provide an electronic device including the same. <P>SOLUTION: Contrast during observation from the oblique direction is improved by fixing a polymerizable liquid crystal 41 which constitutes a retardation layer 40, in a twisted state in a substrate normal direction. A first polarizing plate 61, a liquid crystal layer 30 and the retardation layer 40 are disposed at a prescribed angle including a state of elliptical polarization. The voltage state of the liquid crystal layer 30 is changed by the state of elliptical polarization and reflectance is controlled by changing the retardation of the liquid crystal layer 30 to control the polarization state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
