<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for making a direction of a flash light emitting device follow up a subject of a camera even when the camera is freely changed positionally. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The flash light emitting device includes an irradiation part to radiate flash light, a first distance acquisition part, a second distance acquisition part, an angle acquisition part, an irradiation direction acquisition part, an arithmetic calculation part and a drive part. The first distance acquisition part acquires information on a first distance between the camera and the subject. The second distance acquisition part acquires information on a second distance between the camera and the irradiation part. The angle acquisition part acquires information on an included angle formed by one line linking the subject and the camera with the other line linking the camera and the irradiation part. The irradiation direction acquisition part acquires information on an irradiation direction of the irradiation part. The arithmetic calculation part obtains a subject direction showing a direction from the irradiation part to the subject in a horizontal direction by using the information on the first distance, the information on the second distance and the information on the included angle. The drive part makes the direction of the irradiation part in the horizontal direction follow up the subject based on a difference between the irradiation direction and the subject direction.
