<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing an unsaturated alcohol having a 6C or longer carbon chain, using a catalyst suitable for production of the unsaturated alcohol, from a diol while suppressing formation of a by-product. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the unsaturated alcohol from a diol having a 6C or longer carbon chain as the raw material comprises a dehydration reaction in the presence of a catalyst, where the catalyst comprises scandium oxide. Preferably, the diol having 6 or more carbon atoms contains at least any one of 1,6-hexanediol, 1,7-heptanediol and 1,8-octanediol. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
