<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sleeve for a tapping hole of a converter, which can further increase a tapping rate of the hot metal than a full-length tapered sleeve that is disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No.11-293323, while extending its life. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sleeve for the tapping hole of the converter 1 is constituted by a cylindrical body 3. The cylindrical body 3 includes a first portion 4 which is a cylinder and contains a first aperture 4a, and a second portion 5 which tapers toward an outflow direction of a hot metal and contains a second aperture 5a. The diameter R<SB>1</SB>of the first aperture 4a is 150 to 300 mm, a ratio (R<SB>1</SB>/R<SB>2</SB>) of the diameter R<SB>1</SB>of the first aperture 4a to the diameter R<SB>2</SB>of the second aperture 5a is 1.10 to 1.50, a ratio (R<SB>1</SB>/L) of the diameter R<SB>1</SB>of the first aperture 4a to the length L of the cylindrical body 3 is 0.12 to 0.17, and a ratio (Y/L) of the length Y of the second portion 5 to the length L of the cylindrical body 3 is 0.10 to 0.90.
