PURPOSE: An environmental adaptive heat pump system for cooling and heating is provided to ensure a stable operation against changes in external environment by protecting a compressor from overload. CONSTITUTION: An environmental adaptive heat pump system for cooling and heating comprises a liquid separator(340), a first branch pipe(350), a second branch pipe(360), a third expansion valve(357), a third plate type heat exchanger(380), a cold water circulating pipe, and electronic valves(317,355). The liquid separator is installed between an external air evaporator(330) and a second compressor(310). The second branch pipe is connected to an inlet side pipe of the liquid separator, and equipped with a fourth expansion valve(367). The third expansion valve is installed in the first branch pipe. The electronic valves selectively control the flow of second refrigerant.
