PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-cycle engine improved in power output by effectively scavenging. SOLUTION: The two-cycle engine 1 includes an exhaust gas port 9 provided at the side of a cylinder 4, and a scavenging port 10 passing through an axis 16 of the cylinder 4 and provided at the side of the cylinder 4 symmetrically with respect to a surface passing the center of the cylinder in the circumferential direction of the exhaust gas port 9. An axial line into the cylinder 4 of the opening of the scavenging port 10 goes to a side opposing the exhaust gas port 9 of the cylinder 4 when viewed in the axial direction of the cylinder 4, and the scavenging port 10 is configured to be divided by a division part 14 in the axial direction of the cylinder 4.
