A method for controlling the number of phytophages in a maize agroceniosis in irrigation conditions includes using Trichogramma. In the period of the beginning of mass egg laying of females of lepidopterous pests double settling of Trichogramma onto plants is carried out. The settling of Trichogramma is carried out at night. In the period of mass rebirth of caterpillars of pests and appearance of colonies of aphids, single spraying of plants with aqueous solution of the preparation Stefesin is carried out. In the period of appearance of caterpillars of pests of latest ages, single settling the ectoparasite habrobracon onto plants is carried out.
