The component has a surface area which has a surface roughness with a roughness value less than 0.05 micrometer. A cage-shaped bulging is provided which is formed with a depth smaller than 0.03 micrometer. The component is a rolling body, particularly a ball or a roller. An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing a component for antifriction mountings.
