<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive backlight device to/from which a display sheet on which advertisement information and a landscape picture or the like are drawn is easily attached/detached and replaced, and which can evenly and uniformly illuminate the display sheet, and to provide a display device and a device for observing aquatic animal and plant. <P>SOLUTION: One surface of a surface light emitting sheet 1 is a light emitting surface 11, and a holder 2 has display sheet insertion parts 21 to 23, and is arranged on the light emitting surface of the surface light emitting sheet 1.
