<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for taking statistics about the degree of spread of content. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A content providing system is provided with a file server for control for providing a file 32a for control to be achieved in a specific region 17a of a Web browser 17 and a server for statistics for taking statistics about the degree of spread of specific content 18. Prescribed ID being the ID of the specific content 18 and current location ID being ID showing a position where the specific content 18 is currently attached and a master position ID being ID showing the position displayed before the specific content 18 is attached to the current page are assigned to the specific content 18. The specific content 18 is provided with at least a file 32a for control, and the file 32a for control includes an instruction to transmit a log including the prescribed ID, current position ID and maser position ID to a server for statistics when the file 32a is displayed on a specific region 17a.
