[PROBLEMS] To provide a label for markdown which can be used as a linerless label and which, even after having been applied on another label, breaks from a tamperproof cut without fail upon peeling and can be prevented from being reutilized; and a method of applying the label. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The label comprises a label base (1), a pressure-sensitive adhesive (2) applied to the back side of the label base (1) in strip-form areas apart from each other, and a release agent (3) applied to the front side of the label base (1) in the areas opposite to the pressure-sensitive adhesive (2). Tacky regions (C) coated with the pressure-sensitive adhesive (2) and non-tacky regions (D) not coated with any pressure-sensitive adhesive are alternately formed on the back side of the label base (1) in the width direction for the pressure-sensitive adhesive (2), i.e., in the direction perpendicular to the strips of the adhesive (2). On the front side of the label base (1), release regions (A) coated with the release agent (3) and non-release regions (B) not coated with the release agent (3) are alternately formed in the width direction. First tamperproof cuts (4) and second tamperproof cuts (5) are formed in the tacky regions (C) of the label base (1). |
