PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer ceramic capacitor which has an internal electrode having a smooth surface and capable of positively preventing electrode breaking off, a conductive paste used for the same, a nickel powder or an alloy powder composed mainly of nickel and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The nickel powder or the alloy powder composed mainly of nickel has an average particle size D50of 30-300 nm, a half band width of the diffraction peak of the (111) plane by an X-ray diffraction method of 0.5° or less, and a ratio (A/B) of the specific surface area A measured by the BET adsorption method to the theoretical value B of the specific surface area corresponding to the average particle size D50of 3 or less.
