A horizontally sliding door 1 is supported on mechanism which gives a limited downward movement to the door in the closing position and a reversed movement prior to its removal from that position, and a transverse movement to abut the door aperture surround 12 to exert pressure on seal strips 19 around the door; such mechanism comprises a supporting and guiding rail 6 having a recess or depression 18 in its supporting surface and a carriage 4 movable along the rail 6 by a roller 5, a link member 3 pivoted to the carriage at 3 1 and at 3 2 to a lug 2 on the door 1 so as to be capable of a transverse movement to arid from the surround 12, the upper end of link 3 having secured thereto an arm 9 and the lower end an axle 14 eccentrically supporting thereon a cylindrical roller 15 adjustable around its central axis, and contacts one arm of a channel section 11 securedly fixed to the rail 6 so that when the support roller 5 drops into the recess 18 (state as shown in Fig. 1) the roller 15 rotates counter clockwise about pivot 3 2 and rotates the link 3 counter clockwise about pivot 3 1 bringing pivots 3 1 and 3 2 from vertical alignment, (open door condition) limited by the arm 9 abutting stop 10; into position shown to press the seal against the surround. Rollers 17 restrain transverse movement of the carriage to the rail coming in and out of recess 18 and ensures that the wheel does not come off the rail. |
