PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeding apparatus and an image forming apparatus capable of preventing development of a hollow in a separation roller. SOLUTION: A sheet separating and feeding portion 132 which separates and feeds sheets S one by one sent out by a pickup roller 129, is composed of a feed roller 130 and a retard roller 131 rotatably arranged in the direction opposite to the sheet feeding direction, brought into pressure contact with the feed roller 130 and rotatable by following to the feed roller 130.
