<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminator capable of suppressing a decrease in efficiency although including a red phosphor for improving color rendering properties. <P>SOLUTION: The illuminator 1 includes a device substrate (module substrate) 2, a plurality of LEDs (semiconductor light-emitting elements) 6 mounted on the substrate to emit blue light, and a phosphor layer 21 disposed so as to receive the light emitted by those LEDs 6. The phosphor layer has a plurality of red phosphor regions 23 spaced from each other and a yellow phosphor region (non-red phosphor region) 24. Each red phosphor region 23 contains a red phosphor excited with the blue light incident thereupon from the LEDs 6 to emit red light. The yellow phosphor region 24 contains a different kind of phosphor excited with the blue light incident thereupon from the LEDs 6 to emit light of yellow different from red. The yellow phosphor region 24 is disposed over the red phosphor regions 23 to cover light projection sides of the red phosphor regions 23. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
