摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct backlight apparatus which has a high energy efficiency and little periodic luminance variations. <P>SOLUTION: The direct backlight apparatus includes: a plurality of linear light sources 102; a reflecting plate 103 for reflecting the light reflected from the linear light sources 102; a light diffusing plate 101 for making incident from a light entrance surface both the direct light from the linear light sources 102 and the returning light from the light reflecting plate 103 and performing diffuse illumination from a light emitting surface; and an optical film 300 disposed on the light emitting surface of the light diffusing plate 101. In at least one of the light emitting surface and the light entrance surface of the light diffusing plate 101, an irregular structure is formed in at least a part thereof. Further, an irregular shape wherein a plurality of linear prisms are arranged in nearly parallel with each other and extended along the longitudinal direction of the linear light sources 102 is formed in the optical film 300.
