PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin type cell that is expected to have superior product quality by securing high sealing reliability by preventing an electrolyte from leaking out when a gasket made of butyl rubber is used, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: In the coin type cell 1, an annular gasket 15 is made of a material consisting principally of butyl rubber, and the inner diameter (D1) of the gasket 15 is set a little smaller than the outer diameter (L1) of a negative electrode cap 10. In a manufacturing process, the gasket 15 is increased in diameter and pressed in the negative electrode cap 10, and thereafter the negative electrode cap 10 is brought into tight contact with the gasket 15, thereby preventing the electrolyte 40 on a contact surface X between the both from entering, staying, and leaking out.
