<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a method for conveying a recording paper in a printer with a cutter which can avoid that the recording paper of a long shape is conveyed in a bend state. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The printer 1 with the cutter acquires a movement distance from an upstream side detecting position F of a cutting target position M on the recording paper 11a as a cutting target position movement distance R every time when the recording paper 11a is conveyed. When a cutting command is issued, the printer positions and cuts the cutting target position M to a cutting position B on the basis of the cutting target position movement distance R and a distance Q from the upstream side detection position F to the cutting position B. The cutter confirms whether or not the cutting target position movement distance R when issuing the cutting command agrees with a distance S from the upstream side detection position F to a separation position N. When the distances agree with each other, the printer conveys the recording paper 11a to the downstream by only a difference between the distance S and the distance Q. Accordingly, even if the recording paper 11a is conveyed oppositely to be bent when the cutting target position M is positioned to the cutting position B, the recording paper is returned to a flat state.
