<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress oil outflow to a refrigerating cycle and suppress reliability degradation of a compressor due to decrease in the heat exchange efficiency of the refrigerating cycle and oil shortage, by separating oil from gas by rotation of the rotor of an electric motor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This hermetic compressor is provided with a cylindrical partitioning member 31 partitioning a space 30 below the electric motor into inner and outer spaces, and a communication passage 34 for the inner and outer spaces for allowing the inner and outer spaces to communicate with each other is projected from the inner periphery of the partitioning member 31, thereby refrigerant gas is separated from oil by centrifugal force generated by rotation of the rotor 25b of the electric motor 25 inside the partitioning member 31. Accordingly, it is possible to suppress oil outflow to the refrigerating cycle and to prevent reliability degradation of the compressor due to decrease in the heat exchange efficiency of the refrigerating cycle and oil shortage.
