1,201,463. Hooks. HARLEY PATENTS (INTERNATIONAL) Ltd. 24 July, 1967 [27 July, 1966, No. 33789/66. Heading E2A. In order to prevent detachment, during dropping, of a parachute from a fastening unit 104 to which a load is connected at 65, a hook 13 which secures the parachute and which is held in the fastening position by a latch 14, is locked by a lever 70 which moves, on separation of the unit 104 from an aircraftmounted unit 100, away from a stop 80 and, under the action of a spring 75, into a blocking position behind the latch 14. The unit 104 is withdrawn from the aircraft-mounted unit 100 by the action of the parachute which shears a pin 105. As shown, the hook 13, the latch 14, and the lever 70 are pivoted between plates 10, in turn pivoted in a frame 60, and the hook 13 and latch 14 are urged into effective positions by a spring 20. In order initially to engage the parachute with the hook 13, the latch 14 is rocked clockwise by a cam 48 on a shaft 15 actuated by a handle. Normally, a projection 45 of the shaft 15 engages in an aperture 46 of the latch 14 to prevent inadvertent movement of the latch. |
