PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image selecting apparatus capable of promptly selecting a desired image when selecting the image from a multiple-image format file containing a plurality of images. SOLUTION: It is determined whether a multiple-image format file selected by a user and another multiple-image format file are associated with each other, by comparing fixed information with predetermined information, in accordance with whether a result of the comparison meets a predetermined reference. An image having designated features is retrieved from the multiple-image format file, an image having the same features as a stored image selection history of the other multiple-image format file determined as being associated with the user selected multiple-image format file selected by the user is retrieved from the user selected multiple-image format file, the retrieved image is preferentially selected as a display image of the user selected multiple-image format file, and the retrieved image is displayed.
