<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact binocular which has a short distance in the incident direction of a luminous flux within the width of an eyepiece, and has excellent operability. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The binocular (10) including a single objective optical system (13) and a binocular optical system (59) includes: a light guide optical system (40) including a first reflecting surface (41) reflecting light (LR) in a first direction from the objective optical system in a second perpendicular direction, a second reflecting surface (42) reflecting the light reflected by the first reflecting surface in a third direction perpendicular to the first direction and the second direction, a third reflecting surface (43) reflecting the light reflected by the second reflecting surface in the second direction, and a fourth reflecting surface (44) reflecting the light reflected by the third reflecting surface in the first direction; and a luminous flux division optical system (50) dividing the light from the light guide optical system into the binocular optical system.
