<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat belt retractor capable of achieving an occupant's seat belt wearing state and seat belt winding states corresponding to various types of situations during vehicle running by single motor drive to improve comfort and safety while a seat belt is worn. <P>SOLUTION: A spool 2 which is pivotally supported on a base frame 3 through a spool shaft 15 and on the outer periphery of which webbing W is wound around by rewinding releasing force of a return spring is rotated by driving a motor 5 through a speed reduction mechanism 10, whereat the speed reduction mechanism 10 is composed of speed reduction mechanisms 10A, 10B of two systems having different set speed reduction ratios.
