摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary actuator that can hold itself, in an initial position and in a stop position, produces less torque drop or uneven torque throughout the operating angle range from the initial position to the stop position, and includes smooth and high rotary torque characteristics. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The rotary actuator includes: a self-holding mechanism that becomes the rotational resistance to a rotor 20 from the initial position H to a mid portion 11E toward the stop position L; and since it helps the rotation of the rotor 20 as it goes from the mid portion 11E to the stop position L, rotary torque is diminished on the initial position H side, but rotary torque is reinforced on the stop position L side. For this reason, following rotary torque characteristic is obtained: rotary torque to the rotor 20 is smoothed, in the area from the initial position H to the stopping position L and less torque drop or uneven torque is produced throughout the operating angle range.
