The traction motor 38 is supplied through rectifier bridge 36, a reference signal JC for the motor current being derived from potentiometer 31 through a non-linear limiting element 32. The anti-wheel spin device 33 provides signal JCS representing the sum of signals delta JS1 and delta JS2. The resultant signal JCr is compared with current signal J to control the rectifier 36. The anti-slip device may be modified to control regenerative braking of the vehicle.
