<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding apparatus for preventing any disturbance of the flow of shield gas, suppressing degradation of the shield performance, and enhancing the welding quality and the reliability even when there is an obstacle in the blow-out direction of an air knife. <P>SOLUTION: The welding apparatus comprises a laser beam application head 1 for applying laser beam 7 to a weld point, a welding torch 2 for jetting shield gas, an air jetting means 11 for jetting air so as to cross the laser beam, and a molten pool protector 13 provided opposite to the air jetting means.
