The device has viewer planes (BE1, BE2) each with a viewing region (SB) positioned between two of a set of light source images formed in a pattern in the viewer plane. A controlling unit (CM) controls adjusting units for controlling light modulation. The adjusting units are provided in a light path. The controlling unit controls the adjusting units to automatically change the position of the pattern of the light source images in the viewer plane and/or the distances between the light source images within the pattern in discrete steps based on the position of eyes (AP1, AP2).
