<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device in which information can be appropriately recorded and/or reproduced even when luminous flux of short wavelength is converged for a long time. <P>SOLUTION: A degree of aberration generated by a control device CONT having received a signal from a photodetector PD is calculated. A convergence angle (or divergence angle) of luminous flux made incident on an objective lens OBJ is changed by displacing a second coupling lens CL2 to the optical axis direction in accordance with the above, then generated aberration is corrected.
