PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool provided with a ram capable of correcting position deviation of a distal end of a main shaft unit caused by paying out of the ram even by a device with a simple structure and a low device cost by eliminating a balance weight for weight balance. SOLUTION: The machine tool is provided with a saddle 13 vertically moved along guide of a column 14 and the ram 1 built-in with the main shaft unit 15 and slidably fitted to the saddle 13 in a horizontal direction. In the machine tool, the saddle 13 is supported on the column 14 in a longitudinal direction of the column 14 using a plurality of static pressure bearings 2a, and a control means 10 is provided, which controls the oil pressure of the static pressure bearings 2a according to displacement in a vertical direction of the ram so as to retain linearity in the main shaft direction of the ram 1 by varying the oil pressure of the static pressure bearing 2a, to thereby correct position deviation of the main shaft unit 15 by inclination of the saddle 13 following the control of the oil pressure.
