The arrangement (10) has a closed water vapor circuit (28) with a cooler (40) for cooling a work fluid, and a feed pump (30) for promoting the work fluid to a heat exchanger (32) subjected with thermal energy. An expansion device e.g. steam turbine (26), is arranged downstream of the heat exchanger (32) for expanding the work fluid. The steam turbine is coupled with a fluid energy machine (18) and is arranged on a shaft (20) of the fluid energy machine. The energy machine comprises a compressor (22) arranged on the common shaft, and a turbine is designed as a vario gas turbine. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a fluid energy machine arrangement for a vehicle. The energy machine is designed as a combustion engine.
