PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus, capable of performing high-quality image recording without causing deformation of any components by the ascending/descending force of an ascending/descending mechanism, in adjusting a space between a recording section and conveying section by contact with space adjustment members. SOLUTION: The image recording apparatus 10 comprises: a conveying mechanism 13 including a platen 43 which conveys a recording medium 21; an image recording section 12 which ejects ink onto the recording medium 21 conveyed by the conveying mechanism 13, thereby performing image recording; the space adjustment members 33a to 33d which engage the image recording section 12 and the conveying section 13, thereby regulating the space between them; and the ascending/descending mechanism 14 which moves the conveying mechanism 13 to change the space between the image recording section 12 and the conveying mechanism 13, thereby enabling the image recording section 12 to be movable between a recording position and a non-recording position. A point of application of a force with which the image recording section 12 and the conveying mechanism 13 engage by the ascending/descending mechanism 14 is substantially coincident with the area regulated by the space adjusting members 33a to 33d.
