PURPOSE: An image display device for automatically identifying an image source and an image mode display method thereof are provided to distinguish a frame of an input image source and supply an OSD for automatic image mode selection of a user, thereby enabling the user to conveniently set an optimum movie appreciation mode. CONSTITUTION: An external signal input unit(120) receives an image source from the outside. A frame determining unit(130) calculates fps(frames per second) of the image source to distinguish a 24fps image source. If the 24fps image source is detected, an OSD(On Screen Display) generator(140) generates an OSD menu offering a cinema image mode and a smooth image mode. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) module(170) displays the OSD menu. An image processing unit(160) processes the image source in an image mode selected from the OSD menu. |
