<p>There is disclosed a fire door system (10) including a first door member (12) and at least a second door member (14). The first and second door members (12, 14) are slidably mountable adjacent an opening of a building structure and are movable between a first position, wherein the first and second door members (12, 14) abut so as to substantially close the opening of the building structure, and a second position wherein the first and second door members (12, 14) are separated to provide access to the opening of the building structure. An operating mechanism (22) is mountable to at least one of the first and second door members (12, 14) and is actuable to move the first and second door members (12, 14) from the second position to said first position. The operating mechanism (22) includes a weight (23) that applies a constant force to at least one of the first or second door members (12, 14) to facilitate sliding movement of said door members (12, 14).</p> |
