<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suitable carbonization apparatus for facilitation of working which carbonizes the inner surface of the body part of a wooden barrel. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The carbonization apparatus 100, which carbonizes the inner surface 6 of the body part 5 of the wooden barrel, includes: a rolling mechanism 10 which supports the body part 5 so that the shaft thereof is almost lateral and makes the body part 5 rotary-drive around the shaft; a burner 20 which radiates flame to the inner surface 6 of the body part 5 through an opening 7 of the body part 5 supported by the rolling mechanism 10; and a fire extinction section 30 which sprinkles the fire extinction liquid to the inner surface 6 of the body part 5 through the opening 7 of the body part 5 supported by the rolling mechanism 10.
