An extender is provided by the present invention embodiment, comprising: a downlink data transmitting module for transmitting the downlink data to the first passive optical network devices; uplink data receiving modules for receiving the uplink data transmitted from the corresponding first passive optical network devices; a duplexer for transforming the data transmission mode used by the downlink data transmitting module and the uplink data receiving modules from the dual-fiber transmission to the single-fiber transmission, which realizes the single-fiber bidirectional transceiving; the uplink data receiving module has ports corresponding to the uplink ports of the first passive optical network device one to one; the fiber of the uplink port of the first passive optical network device is separate from the fiber of the downlink port of the first passive optical network device. A data transmission method and a passive optical network are also provided by the present invention embodiment.
