<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve visibility particularly in the external light without causing the state of negative-positive inversion in such a case that optical recycle is enabled to improve the utilization of light. <P>SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display includes: a first substrate 2 located at the light incidence side of a backlight; a second substrate 3 located at the light outgoing side of the backlight; a liquid crystal layer 4 disposed between them; an absorption type polarizing layer 5 disposed rather closer to the light incidence side of the backlight than the liquid crystal layer 4 to absorb a predetermined polarized light component in the light of the backlight and transmit a polarized light component orthogonal to the predetermined polarized light component; and a reflection type polarizing layer 6 disposed further closer to the light incidence side of the backlight than the absorption type polarizing layer 5 to reflect the predetermined polarized light component in the light of the backlight and transmit the polarized light component orthogonal to the predetermined polarized light component. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
