PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an automatic check at any time, in an automatic teller machine 1 automatically checking an amount of cash stored in the device. SOLUTION: This automatic teller machine performing the check at a proper time is provided with: a money depositing and dispensing safe 3a storing cash deposited and to be dispensed; and a charging box 3b collecting the cash in the money depositing and dispensing safe 3a. In the automatic teller machine, when the amount of the cash in the money depositing and dispensing safe 3a becomes equal to the capacity of the charging box 3b or above, a money depositing transaction is restricted to keep the amount of the cash in the money depositing and dispensing safe 3a within the capacity of the charging box 3b or below, and the automatic check can be performed at any time.
