<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection method of the position of a welding hole capable of restraining installation expenses and reliably determining an edge hole and a center hole by a simple detection logic. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the detection method of the position of a welding hole for detecting the position of a welding hole punched at the welding point section of a strip of material, two detectors capable of optically detecting the position of the welding hole are disposed side by side in the width direction of the strip of material so that detection visual fields of the detector may overlap by a prescribed amount at the center in the width direction of the strip of material. From the detection result of the position of the welding hole by the two detectors, the position in the width direction of the strip of material in the welding hole is located.
