A method and apparatus for controlling the multimedia conference by the application server are provided by the invention. The method includes that: in the multimedia conference, the application server divides the m rows in the received terminal session description protocol message (SDP) into two SDPs according to the multimedia type, and transmits the SDPs to the audio-video multimedia server and the data media server separately, or combines the SDPs returned by the audio-video multimedia server and the data media server into one SDP, and transmit it to the terminal. The apparatus includes an application server, and the application server includes a SDP dividing module and a SDP combining module. By applying this invention, the process of the signaling interaction is simplified, the consume in the signaling interaction is reduced, the controlling of the conventional audio-video media and the data media is better synchronized, the realization of the multimedia client is more simple, meanwhile, the conventional terminal that can't support the data media is compatible. |
