<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the axial size of a hybrid vehicle power unit including a dry type clutch. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An engine cut-off clutch 37 is arranged between an input shaft 20 of a transmission to which the rotor 31 of the electric motor M is connected, and a flywheel shaft rotated by an engine. The engine cut-off clutch 37 is released in engagement to cut off the engine during travel or regeneration braking by the electric motor M, thus avoiding the friction loss of the engine. A release actuator 81 for operating the engine cut-off clutch 37 arranged between the rotor 31 fixed to the outer peripheral face of the input shaft 20 and the flywheel is arranged in an actuator storage space 80 formed between the outer peripheral face of the input shaft 20 and the inner peripheral face of the rotor 31.
