摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that rotation of liquid crystal is small since a lateral electric field component is small on a comb-teeth electrode and optical transmissivity above a transparent comb-teeth electrode decreases since the liquid crystal is raised with a longitudinal electric field component to cause a decrease in retardation. <P>SOLUTION: In an active matrix liquid crystal display device including a first substrate provided with scanning wiring, common wiring provided in parallel to the scanning wiring, data wiring provided crossing the scanning wiring, and an active element provided at an intersection of the data wiring and scanning wiring, a second substrate provided opposite to the first substrate, the liquid crystal sandwiched between the first and second substrates, and transparent comb-teeth electrodes provided on the first substrate so as to apply an electric field to the liquid crystal, a liquid crystal gap on a transparent comb-teeth electrode is made larger than a liquid crystal gap between transparent comb-teeth electrodes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p>
