<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a secondary battery electrode group contributive to increasing the capacity of a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery and improving safety thereof by continuously and stably forming a porous heat resistant layer on the surface of an active material layer. <P>SOLUTION: In forming an porous insulating layer 4 on the surface of at least one of a negative electrode 2 and a positive electrode 3, a re-drying step of drying the negative electrode 2 and/or the positive electrode 3 is provided separately from a step of drying negative electrode mixture slurry applied onto the surface of a negative electrode collector or drying positive electrode mixture slurry applied onto the surface of a positive electrode collector.
