PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of continuing sterilization of a drain pan semipermanently and eliminating clogging of a drain pump in any installation environment and in any bacteria breeding environment by exhibiting effects of the sterilization of the drain pan. SOLUTION: The air conditioner is provided with a heat exchanger 7, the drain pan 5 receiving condensed water from the heat exchanger 7, and a drain pump 4 discharging drain water 6 stored in the drain pan 5. The air conditioner is further provided with a sterilizing device 1 installed within the drain pan 5 and including the following elements: (1) at least one or more pairs of discharge electrodes 2 each including a pair of a highvoltage electrode 2a and a ground electrode 2b arranged opposing to the high voltage electrode 2a at a predetermined distance; and (2) a high voltage power supply 3 applying high voltage pulses to the discharge electrodes 2.
