To reduce the power consumption required by a data transfer even if the number of bits of data to be transferred increases. For achieving this purpose, there are included 2data transfer signal lines that are provided between two sides of transmission and reception of data on n signal lines; an encoder that is disposed on the transmitting side and that is responsive to inputs of data transferred from the n signal lines to output a low-potential signal only to one of the 2signal lines, while outputting high-potential signals to the other signal lines; and a decoder that is disposed on the receiving side and that is responsive to inputs from the 2signal lines to output the same data as the aforementioned transferred data to the n signal lines.
